AION 2 PET GUIDE

AION 2 Pet Guide: Farming, Pet Souls & Genus Insight

How AION 2 pets work: farming pet souls, genus analysis and locking, plus the pets list — checked against NC's official guides and patch notes.

What pets do in AION 2

A pet is a companion you can also ride. NC's official Taiwan pet guide describes pets as mounts that raise your character's movement speed while ridden: press the (C) hotkey on the ground to mount, and note that some areas, expeditions among them, restrict riding.

Pets also carry their own progression. The same guide states that a pet's level grants your character additional stats, and that hunting with a pet you already own earns pet familiarity experience up to level 5.

Pet ownership is account-friendly: owned pets, collection counts, genus progress and Soul Crystal holdings are shared across the characters on your server.

AION 2's Global (English) service is new, and its English documentation of the pet system is still thin. Where the English patch notes are silent, this page leans on NC's official Taiwan guide and Taiwan/Korea update notes. Every claim below links its source, and numbers appear only when an official NC document states them.

How pet souls and pet farming work

Pets come from souls, and souls come from hunting. The official Taiwan guide explains that defeating a pet's target monsters gives a chance at that pet's soul points; collect enough of them and the pet is unlocked. Pets can also arrive whole, as rewards: the guide notes pets granted through rewards, and NC's update notes document pets from shop packages and first-clear events.

Once you own a pet, continued hunting of its monsters no longer builds unlock progress. It earns pet familiarity experience instead, which the Taiwan guide caps at level 5. Souls received at a pet's maximum level are converted automatically into that genus's Soul Crystals, the currency described in the next section.

The Global English patch notes confirm the item names. The October 13, 2026 patch notes list a Special Halloween Chest containing 10,000 Pet Soul Crystals, available until the November 3, 2026 maintenance (PST), and Red Candy containing Growth Pet Chests (Bound).

Where should you farm? The game answers this itself: the Taiwan guide's pet details panel shows each pet's acquisition source, so check the in-game [Pets] menu for the monster tied to your target pet. Once you know what to hunt, the homepage rift timer shows the next scheduled Spacetime Rift opening for your server, so you can plan a farming run around it.

Genus Insight: analysis, levels and locking

"Genus Insight" — the name most players search for — is the genus familiarity system in the [Pets] menu; NC's official Taiwan guide calls it genus familiarity (種族理解度), Korea 종족 이해도. Analyzing a genus grants your character additional stats. Each analysis consumes Soul Crystals of that genus plus Kina.

Every analysis also grants genus familiarity experience, and each genus's familiarity can rise to level 10. Higher familiarity improves the odds of rolling higher-tier stats, and reaching specific levels opens additional analysis effect slots. When an analysis rolls a stat you want to keep, the lock function preserves it — the Taiwan guide notes that a locked analysis consumes more goods, so locking trades currency for certainty.

You can also set up automatic analysis. Per the Taiwan guide, auto-analysis stops when a result matches your configured conditions, when the genus's level rises, or when you run out of materials. Genus progress and Soul Crystal holdings are shared across the characters on your server, and the official Taiwan and Korea update notes of October 14, 2026 confirm that Soul Crystals obtained from the Cube convert into genus familiarity points automatically.

Which stats are best? NC has not published a recommended target, and the stat pool is documented per service, not globally. This page describes the mechanics and leaves stat chasing to your own analysis rolls.

The pets list, and how to read it

The [Pets] menu holds the full list. The Taiwan guide documents list filters across five pet types — written there as 知性, 野性, 自然, 變形 and 特殊 (roughly: intelligence, wild, nature, morph and special). Each entry's details show the pet's info, its acquisition source and its owned effects; the menu also carries a collection status view, favorites, search, a bulk-analysis tool and riding-appearance previews, plus the slot to equip the pet you want active.

Pets documented by official Global sources as of : the shop packages Pet: Pumpkin Carriage and Pet: Little Ghost, $19.99 each, limited to once per server for characters level 10 or higher. They are sold under [In-Game Menu] → [Shop] → [Atelier] → [Weapons/Wings/Pets] → [Products] until November 24, 2026 (PST) / November 25, 2026 (CET), arrive in [Shop - Storage], and appear in the [Pets] menu once claimed. Sources: the October 13 patch notes and the October 13 items notice.

Reward pets exist too. NC's official Taiwan and Korea update notes of October 14, 2026 document pets granted as first-clear event rewards for a Sanctuary dungeon, and the same services' update notes of October 21, 2026 record Pet Chests (Bound) gaining a higher bulk-use limit; the Global English notes of that date do not list it. Reward events rotate by service, so treat the current update notes for your own service as the authority.

What this list is not: a ranking. NC publishes no official pet rankings, so there is no tier list here — a ranking would be opinion, not documentation. Pick pets by the source you can farm and the stats you want from genus analysis.

Pet auto loot

Pets can pick up dropped items for you. The Taiwan guide documents the feature: the enabling item is sold under [Shop - Breeze Merchants - Special], the effect applies per character, and the remaining time shows in the [Pets] menu. The official Taiwan and Korea update notes name the item Pet: Auto-Loot Ticket (30 days) and record a price adjustment in the October 7, 2026 update.

Pet Selection Chest: what is documented

Search suggestions and community lists mention a "Pet Selection Chest". As of , we have not found an official NC source — the Global patch notes, notices, or the Taiwan guide — that documents a chest by that name or lists its contents, so this page does not describe one. The chests NC does document in the current event are the Special Halloween Chest (10,000 Pet Soul Crystals) and the Growth Pet Chest (Bound), whose contents the notes do not detail.

If a selection chest appears in your version's shop or events, the in-game item description is the source of truth. Its contents will be added here only once NC documents them in a dated notice.

Pet guide FAQ

How do you get pets in AION 2?

Two routes, both documented in the official Taiwan guide: hunt a pet's target monsters for a chance at its soul points and collect enough to unlock it, or receive the pet directly as a reward. NC's update notes document shop packages and first-clear event pets; event chests in the current Halloween event grant Pet Soul Crystals and pet chests instead.

What are Pet Soul Crystals for?

They fuel genus analysis. Each analysis of a genus's familiarity consumes that genus's Soul Crystals plus Kina, and grants stats plus genus familiarity experience toward level 10. Holdings are shared across your server's characters. The October 13, 2026 Global patch notes list 10,000 Pet Soul Crystals in the Special Halloween Chest.

What is Genus Insight?

The name most players search for genus familiarity analysis in the [Pets] menu; NC's official Taiwan guide calls it genus familiarity (種族理解度), Korea 종족 이해도. Analyzing grants additional stats; each genus's familiarity rises to level 10; higher levels improve the odds of higher-tier stats and open extra effect slots. The lock function keeps a rolled effect, at a higher goods cost per analysis.

Is there an official AION 2 pet tier list?

No. NC publishes no pet rankings, so any tier list is opinion. Use the [Pets] menu instead: each pet's details show its acquisition source, so you can plan farming around monsters you can actually reach. When you know what to hunt, the homepage rift timer counts down the next scheduled opening so you can time the run.
